The European People's Party has always been committed in supporting the work of the European Commission, the main European institution that implements European Union policies.

This is why the EPP has always placed great emphasis on facilitating the appointment of Commissioners originating from our political family. In the last two Commission terms, the EPP, the winner of the 2004 and 2009 European Parliament elections, played a decisive role in appointing Jose Manuel BARROSO (PSD), the EPP candidate, as President of the Commission.

The Barroso II Commission has a total of 13 members of the College are affiliated to the EPP.
