LOPEZ-ISTURIZ: EPP GAINS THE MAIN POSITIONS IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT	17-01-2007

EPP Secretary General and MEP Antonio Lopez-Isturiz underlined today the great success its parliamentary Group achieved in securing the main positions in the European Parliament for the second half of the legislative term. "In addition to the election of Hans-Gert Poettering as President of Parliament and the impressive result he received, the EPP elected two of its leading MEPs for the positions of 1st and 2nd Vice-Presidents: Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou from Greece (ND) and Alejo Vidal-Quadras from Spain (PP)," stated Lopez-Isturiz. "This success shows, once again, that the EPP has the right people with the right credentials to lead the European institutions," the EPP Secretary General concluded.
