One year after the multiple terrorist attacks in Paris,
Joseph Daul, the President of the European People’s Party, paid tribute to the victims and made the following statement:
“There is not a single day I do not think about the attacks in Paris which caused the deaths of 130 people, people who, like you and me, went to a concert, to eat with family or friends or to see a football match — before they were abruptly taken. I cannot fathom the pain of the victims’ families, and my thoughts are especially with them on this day. I would like also to express my support to the survivors who carry with them this ineffable trauma.
On 13 November 2015, an attack was perpetrated against a way of life shared by people from all backgrounds and religions. Yet in the face of those wanting to destroy our society, we remained united. In the face of barbarity, we acted with humanity. This was proven by the solidarity of the Parisians to offer shelter, by the dedication of the medical services and the mobilisation of security and police forces. It is an entire country and an entire continent which are defying terrorists. French and Europeans citizens are resilient and did not give in to sterile hatred. Police and magistrates have worked relentlessly to identify all those involved in the attacks and to bring them to justice.
Paris is the city in which the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted, engraving on our minds the values of freedom and justice and peace protected by the rule of law. These fundamentals give us strength and hope. We will not yield to fear; we will stand united, and we will overcome divisive ideologies.”
Attaques du 13 novembre: nous n’oublions pas
Un an après les multiples attaques terroristes à Paris, Joseph Daul, le Président du Parti populaire européen, a rendu hommages aux victimes et a fait la déclaration suivante:
« Il n’y pas un jour où je ne pense pas aux attaques à Paris qui ont causé le décès de 130 personnes. Les vies de personnes, comme vous et moi, qui sont allées à un concert, manger en famille ou avec des amis, assister à un match de football, ont été fauchées. Je ne peux m’imaginer la douleur de la famille des victimes et j’ai une pensée tout particulière pour eux aujourd’hui. J’adresse aussi un message de soutien aux survivants, qui portent en eux ce traumatisme ineffable.
Le 13 novembre 2015, ce fut l’attaque d’un mode de vie partagé par des personnes de tous horizons et de toutes confessions. Face à ceux qui veulent détruire notre société, nous sommes restés unis. Face à la barbarie, nous avons agi avec humanité. La solidarité des Parisiens qui ont offert un abri, le dévouement des services médicaux et la mobilisation des services de police et de sécurité en sont la preuve. C’est tout un pays et un continent qui s’opposent aux terroristes. Les Français et les Européens ont fait preuve de résilience et n’ont pas succombé à une haine stérile. La police et les magistrats travaillent sans relâche pour identifier toutes personnes impliquées dans les attaques et les traduire en justice.
Paris est la ville où la Déclaration universelle des droits de l'homme a été adoptée, inscrivant dans nos mémoires les valeurs de liberté, justice et paix protégées par l’état de droit. Ces fondamentaux nous donnent de la force et de l’espoir. Nous ne nous céderons pas à la peur, nous resterons unis et nous vaincrons les idéologies de division."
