The European People’s Party (EPP) congratulates Partido Popular for the election results in Spain and welcomes Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s and Partido Popular’s victory.
“I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Partido Popular for winning the most votes in the Spanish general elections this Sunday. The people of Spain have chosen the only committed and responsible political force, which took Spain out of a deep recession and brought back economic growth, confidence and stability,” said EPP President Joseph Daul.
“The election results show that Partido Popular is not only the most preferred choice of the voters but is also the only party entrusted to form and lead the next government. Prime Minister Rajoy’s policies have set an example of leadership, successful reforms and a model for the rest of Europe. Only a party with such a track record could be a viable guarantor of prosperity and stability in Spain.”
“Spain has often led by example in the past years under the direction of Partido Popular. A political party that has never been afraid of difficult tasks or of bold reforms. This is the party the people of Spain have chosen to lead and I believe Partido Popular will be up to the challenge again,” concluded the EPP President.
