The European People’s Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul strongly condemns the latest terrorist attacks in Germany, Turkey, and Switzerland, and reiterates the party’s firm stance and commitment to fight against terrorism. “I am shocked at the waves of violence directed towards innocent people in Berlin, Ankara, and Zurich. Nothing justifies the use of terror and violence against human beings, that’s why terrorism must be tackled at its roots. The spread of hatred through radical Islamist ideologies are incompatible with our values and have no place in our societies. We will fight it with determination so that our free societies prevail. In these difficult times, let us remain united and adamant in front of those who threaten our values and our beliefs. But above all, we must show solidarity, be strong, united, and fearless in pursuing and defending our way of life. All our efforts, now more than ever, must be directed towards ensuring that citizens can feel safe and secure at home. The inteligence services must improve their capacity to work more efficiently in sharing information and controlling who enters Europe. We must guard and secure our borders, and put in place the right capabilities to prevent and eliminate any threat. Finally, we wish to offer our condolences to the victims of these horrific attacks. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families, and we wish speedy recovery to those injured in these horrific attacks.”
