On Monday 15 April, Ursula von der Leyen, EPP Lead Candidate, will be in Riga, Latvia, to campaign with EPP member party Jaunā Vienotība.
Ursula von der Leyen will be joined during her activities by the Prime Minister of Latvia, Evika Siliņa, and by Jaunā Vienotība’s national lead candidate for the European Parliament elections, Valdis Dombrovskis.
In the morning, Ms von der Leyen will visit Riga Stradiņš University, where she will meet and exchange with students.
Later, the Lead Candidate will visit the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence, which focuses on countering disinformation and supports NATO’s strategic communications capabilities.
Following this, Ms von der Leyen will meet Jaunā Vienotība’s candidates for the European elections for a personal exchange and a photo opportunity, after which she will lay flowers in front of Riga’s Freedom Monument.
The Lead Candidate will meet a group of representatives of female-led organisations for lunch, such as the MARTA CentreNovatore, and the youth organisation of Jaunā Vienotība.
Finally, the candidate will visit the Edge Autonomy drone factory of Riga, to discuss with workers and executives the efforts to strengthen the EU’s defence industrial base.
