EPP Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting

EPP Foreign Affairs Ministers, chaired by EPP Vice-President David McALLISTER, MEP and Chairman of the AFET Committee, met this morning in Brussels to prepare the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) agenda. The participants exchanged views on current affairs, focusing on the ongoing brutal Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, as Moscow recently intensified its attacks against civilian targets. As special guest, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai POPȘOI, was welcomed, as the challenges of Moldova as EU candidate country were discussed. Furthermore, the Ministers reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East, and Libya, as migration flows have increased from the North African country to Southern Europe across the Central Mediterranean route. Ministers welcomed Dubravka ŠUICA, Commissioner for Mediterranean and EPP Vice-President reporting to the group upon the “Mediterranean 2025, the Pact and the reform of the Union for the Mediterranean” which is being prepared by the European Commission.
