EPP Foreign Affairs Ministers, chaired by Antonio TAJANI, EPP Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister of Italy, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and EPP Vice-President David McALLISTER, Chairman of the AFET Committee, met this evening in Rome to prepare the upcoming Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) agenda. For the first time, warmly welcomed into the group were Anita ORBÁN, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and Tone KAJZER, the new Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. The participants exchanged views on the ongoing brutal Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, having a strategic discussion on all strands of EU’s support for Ukraine. Furthermore, the Ministers reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East before discussing the situation in the Black Sea and current affairs such as EU-UN relations and the meeting with the EU-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) High-Level Forum. Co-Chair Antonio TAJANI concluded the meeting by underlining: “We are here united as EPP family, as the strongest family. We need to give a stronger voice in the conflicts around us, like in the Middle East and full support for Ukraine, boost the EU enlargement, for Ukraine and Moldova, but not to forget the Western Balkans as a priority as well.”
