EPP Foreign Affairs Ministers: “Our Security is Ukraine’s Security – Our Future is Ukraine’s Future”

The Foreign Affairs Ministers of the European People’s Party (EPP) met in Brussels to prepare for the upcoming Foreign Affairs Council (FAC). The meeting was co-chaired by Paulo RANGEL, EPP Vice-President and Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal, and Gordan GRLIĆ RADMAN, Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. Ministers held an in-depth discussion on Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to support Ukraine, particularly as winter approaches. The conversation focused on the various strands of the EU’s assistance, including military, financial, and humanitarian aid. “From the first day of the war, we have stood by Ukraine. Our commitment to the Ukrainian people begins with military support and security and continues with financial reconstruction,” stated Minister Paulo RANGEL on the margins of the meeting. The meeting also addressed developments in the Middle East, with the participation of Dubravka ŠUICA, EPP Vice-President and European Commissioner for the Mediterranean. Ministers exchanged views on the region’s evolving dynamics and the EU’s role in promoting stability and dialogue. “The stability of the Middle East is pivotal for Europe’s future. Commissioner Šuica’s plan for the Mediterranean will make a significant positive impact, and we are very grateful to have her working in this crucial area,” commented Minister Gordan GRLIĆ RADMAN. Finally, the discussion concluded with an assessment of EU-China relations, underlining the need for a balanced and strategic approach to engagement with China in the current global context.
