EPP Health Ministers Meeting

EPP Health Ministers convene in Copenhagen ahead of Health Ministers Informal Council   EPP Health Ministers met this morning in Copenhagen to prepare for the upcoming Council meeting. The session was chaired by Hosams ABU MERI, Minister of Health of Latvia. Ministers began with a strategic exchange on life sciences and clinical trials, highlighting the need to support innovation while ensuring patient safety and accelerating access to promising therapies across Member States. The discussion then turned to the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). EPP ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a coordinated EU approach, aiming at a greater safety and availability of antibiotics. In light of recent global challenges, the meeting also addressed preparedness and security of supply in the health sector. Ministers underlined the importance of resilient health systems, improved coordination of emergency stockpiles, and diversified sourcing strategies for critical medical products. The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on national experiences and best practices.
