EPP Health Ministers, chaired by Martine DEPREZ, Minister of Health and Social Security of Luxembourg, met this morning at the EPP Headquarters in Brussels to prepare for the upcoming Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) agenda. Ministers opened the meeting with a discussion on the Critical Medicines Act, stressing the urgent need to address shortages, reinforce Europe’s pharmaceutical security, and strengthen strategic autonomy in the supply of essential medicines. The meeting then turned to the pharmaceutical package, where ministers highlighted the need for a regulatory framework that supports innovation, ensures timely access to treatments for patients across the EU, and maintains Europe as a global leader in medical research. The meeting concluded with a brief exchange, during which ministers discussed national priorities and developments relevant to the forthcoming Council discussions.
