With the Trade and Cooperation Agreement officially adopted by the EP, relations with the UK enter a new phase. The EPP remains committed to close partnership based on mutual respect and shared democratic values. The EU and UK are essential partners in fighting climate change and terrorism and organised crime; in working for a stronger NATO; and in ensuring tariff-free, quota-free trade in line with the Withdrawal Agreement and the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland. The TCA is fair and balanced, protecting EU interests and respecting EU rules and high standards. After Brexit, it is a promising step forward. We continue to stand with the Republic of Ireland in defending the Good Friday Agreement. We remain open to a deeper EU-UK partnership in future.
