EPP Justice and Home Affairs Ministers, chaired by Magnus BRUNNER, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, and Annelies VERLINDEN, Minister of Justice, Belgium, met this morning in Brussels to prepare for today’s Justice and Home Affairs Council (JHA) agenda. Ministers began the meeting with a discussion on the future of temporary protection for Ukrainians. The EU should be ready for what happens after March 2027, when the current prolongation ends. The focus of the meeting then turned to MFF and adequate funding for external migration policies where ministers shared the perspectives and outlook from their own Member States. The meeting concluded with an exchange of the current state of play concerning the Return Regulation and its ongoing negotiations.
