EPP Energy Ministers, co-chaired by Ebba Busch, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Business and Industry of Sweden, and Christian Ehler, MEP and EPP Group ITRE Coordinator from Germany, met in person for the first time this afternoon ahead of the TTE (Energy) Council meeting in Luxembourg.
Ministers held productive discussions on the ongoing difficulties within the energy sector owing to the crisis in Iran, with several proposals for action emerging.
The meeting also featured a fruitful exchange on the Grids Package, a key policy that will strengthen Europe’s competitiveness through a reduction in energy prices.
Ministers discussed their views on how the post-2030 energy framework should be designed in order to meet the twin challenges of achieving climate targets while boosting homegrown energy supply.
Finally, Ministers had productive talks on the upcoming Emissions Trading System (ETS) review, reiterating their commitment to aligning ambitious decarbonisation with strong industrial competitiveness.
