Members of the Political Assembly of the European People’s Party gathered in Brussels on 8 and 9 December. The meeting was chaired by EPP President Manfred Weber and Secretary General Dolors Montserrat. A special intervention was held by Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament.
A key highlight of the meeting was a high-level panel discussion on Europe’s growing housing crisis, a challenge that demands coordinated action across all levels of government. The panel brought together Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson (Sweden), Mayor of Łodz Hanna Zdanowska (Poland), TD and Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage Micheál Carrigy (Ireland) and MEP and rapporteur in the special committee on the housing crisis, Borja Giménez Larraz (Spain). By gathering leaders and representatives from local, regional, national and European level, to share best practices, the EPP is taking a leading role in finding lasting solutions to this crisis.
Participants also heard from Juan Carlos Hidalgo, Presidential candidate of Costa Rica and leader of the Social Christian Unity Party, who shared his vision for his country ahead of the presidential elections to take place in February 2026 and the priorities shaping his campaign.
