Ahead of the Spanish general elections on April 28, the President of the European People´s Party (EPP), Joseph Daul, has expressed his support for Partido Popular (PP) and its President, Pablo Casado:
“A victory for Partido Popular is a victory for Spain and for the European Union. Under PP governments, both Spain and the European Union have succeeded. Partido Popular is the most capable political force that can guarantee and modernise the welfare state in Spain by creating the right environment for stable and quality employment.
Under the two PP Prime Ministers, almost 8 million jobs were created. In the last 5 years, under the ruling PP, nearly 3 million jobs were created in Spain after they implemented the right policies to create employment for its people. PP’s success echoed across Europe which resulted in Spain creating one in three jobs in the Eurozone during this European Commission term. A success that comes in stark contrast after failed policies of the socialist government. They failed during 2008 and 2011, when more than 3.5 million Spanish citizens lost their jobs and they failed again when 93,400 positions were destroyed due to their reckless policies between January-March of this year.
“A government of the Partido Popular is key to the cohesion of Spain and the EU and guaranteeing the same opportunities for all Spanish citizens independent of where they live.”
In light of the global challenges facing the EU, I am convinced that a PP Government led by Pablo Casado is the best option for Spain and for Europe. PP is the only centre-right reference in Spain and a reliable, responsible and trustworthy partner that has always contributed to strengthening the European project based on the rule of law, democracy, freedom and solidarity.”

The Party Platform was developed in EPP Working Group 1 for “European Policy” chaired by EPP President Wilfried MARTENS ?and EPP Vice President Peter HINTZE. The Working Group consists of delegates of EPP member parties who prepared and worked?on this document for more than two years and received input?from the drafting committee as well as senior and young experts.
