"The political situation in the Republic of Moldova is alarming. The no-confidence motion tabled by the anti-European forces, namely the Socialist and the Communist Parties, and which will be voted on by the Parliament on Thursday, is more than a test for the future of the country and its European choice that materialised in the Association Agreement with the EU. This is a decisive moment for Moldova," said European People's Party President Joseph Daul. 

"On behalf of the EPP, I call on all the pro-European political forces in Moldova to act responsibly and to abandon all the political games. The Alliance for European Integration (AEI) must be preserved, as it is the only viable option to keep Moldova on the path of reform, development and modernisation. It is also the main response to the legitimate demands of the citizens. AEI must be consolidated on a fair and transparent basis and build upon a concrete action plan without blackmailing through a no-confidence vote," the EPP President continued. 

"The MPs belonging to the governing majority and who intend to vote with the Socialists and Communists on the no-confidence motion will bear full responsibility for the failure of the Alliance for European Integration. The fall of the government would diminish the country’s European prospects and would drive it into unprecedented economic and social chaos. The Republic of Moldova cannot afford such instability. A vote of confidence in Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet’s government will show Moldova’s commitment to staying on the European path. This is and must remain the main goal of the country, no matter the current political interests of the various parties," concluded President Joseph Daul.

Forțele proeuropene din Republica Moldova trebuie să pună țara mai presus de interesele politice

"Situația politică din Republica Moldova este deosebit de alarmantă. Moțiunea de cenzură depusă de către forțele anti-europene, Partidul Socialiștilor și Partidul Comuniștilor, si care va fi supusă votului, mâine, în Parlament, reprezintă mai mult decât un test pentru viitorul Republicii Moldova și parcursul său european care s-a materializat în semnarea Acordului de Asociere cu UE. Este o hotărâre decisivă. În calitate de președinte al Partidului Popular European fac apel către toate forțele politice proeuropene din Republica Moldova să arate cea mai mare responsabilitate și să abandoneze toate jocurile politice," a declarat președintele PPE Joseph Daul.

"Alianța pentru Integrare Europeană (AIE) trebuie să fie păstrată pentru că este singura șansă de a menține Moldova pe calea dezvoltării, reformelor și modernizării. AIE este unicul răspuns pentru cerințele legitime ale cetățenilor. Alianța trebuie să se consolideze în mod corect și transparent în jurul unui plan de acțiuni concret, fără să se lase șantajată și influențată de votarea unei moțiuni de cenzură. Membrii actualei majorități din Parlament care intenționează să se alăture socialiștilor și comuniștilor vor purta o răspundere pentru eșecul Alianței pentru Integrare Europeană. Căderea guvernului condus de prim-ministrul Valeriu Streleț va diminua considerabil perspectivele de integrare europeană și va duce țara într-un haos economic și social fără precedent. Republica Moldova nu-și poate permite o astfel de destabilizare. Un vot de încredere pentru guvernul prim-ministrului Valeriu Streleț va demonstra angajamentul Republicii Moldova de a rămâne pe calea europeană. Acest lucru este și trebuie să rămână obiectivul principal al țării, indiferent de actualele interese politice ale diferitelor partide," a concluzionat președintele Daul.
