The European People’s Party (EPP) will hold its Congress on 21 and 22 October in Madrid, Spain. Detailed information can be found at madrid2015.epp.eu. Hosted by Prime Minister and President of Partido Popular Mariano RAJOY, EPP President Joseph DAUL and EPP Secretary General Antonio LÓPEZ-ISTÚRIZ, in the presence of EPP Group President Manfred WEBER, the Congress in Madrid will tackle a wide range of challenges Europe is facing, from security to economic recovery. While the EPP Congress in Madrid will focus on foreign and security policies such as migration and fighting terrorism, it will also deal with crucial issues that are high on the European agenda: growth, employment, the digital single market, climate change and the partnership between Europe and the United States. The Congress will also elect the complete EPP Presidency, including the President, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary General. 2,000 participants from 40 countries have been invited to participate in the Madrid Congress. Alongside Mariano RAJOY, the list of invitees includes the EPP’s EU heads of state and government: Angela MERKEL (Germany), Klaus IOHANNIS (Romania), Boyko BORISSOV (Bulgaria), Viktor ORBÁN (Hungary), Ewa KOPACZ (Poland), Laimdota STRAUJUMA (Latvia), Enda KENNY (Ireland), Pedro PASSOS COELHO (Portugal) and Nicos ANASTASIADES (Cyprus), as well as the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council, Jean-Claude JUNCKER and Donald TUSK, respectively. Moreover, Vice Chancellor Reinhold MITTERLEHNER (Austria), Deputy Prime Ministers Pavel BĔLOBRÁDEK (Czech Republic) and Kris PEETERS (Belgium), Minister of Interior Angelino ALFANO (Italy), Minister of Finance Alexander STUBB(Finland), Minister of Social Protection Margus TSAHKNA (Estonia) and opposition leaders Nicolas SARKOZY (France), Simon BUSUTTIL (Malta), Janez JANŠA(Slovenia), Jan FIGEL' (Slovakia), Marc SPAUTZ (Luxembourg), Sybrand VAN HAERSMA BUMA (The Netherlands), Tomislav KARAMARKO  (Croatia), Anna KINBERG BATRA (Sweden), Gabrielius LANDSBERGIS (Lithuania), Søren PAPE POULSEN  (Denmark) and Vangelis MEIMARAKIS (Greece) have also been invited. Non-EU heads of state and government Erna SOLBERG (Norway), Serzh SARGSYAN(Armenia), Petro POROSHENKO (Ukraine), Nikola GRUEVSKI (FYROM), Isa MUSTAFA (Kosovo), Valeriu STRELEȚ (Republic of Moldova) and Dragan ČOVIĆ(Bosnia and Herzegovina), Member of the Federal Council Doris LEUTHARD(Switzerland), party presidents Mikheil SAAKASHVILI (Georgia) and István PÁSZTOR (Serbia), as well as opposition leaders Lulzim BASHA (Albania) andAlaksandr MILINKIEVIC (Belarus) have been invited.
