United with France
Following the terrorist attack yesterday evening in Nice, the President of the European People’s Party, Joseph Daul, made the following statement:
“Terror has struck France once again. No words can express the pain after this terrorist attack in Nice. My thoughts are with the families of the victims, and I wish a full recovery to all the injured. On 14 July, France celebrates its history; but this is also a day when all the French unite. This unity will always resist violence and hatred. The solidarity of the people of Nice, the courage of the security services and the dedication of the medical services are the proof of it. My thoughts are with the families of the victims, and I wish a full recovery to all the injured.”
“We stand by the French people and by the values on which France is built and which have inspired the European project. A peaceful continent and the freedom of European citizens are the pillars of the European project. Terror will not prevail either in France or in Europe. The Europeans people are strong and will not give up.
“As we mourn the loss of lives in Nice, it is our duty to continue working for the safety of Europeans. The EPP has long advocated a stronger and more effective security union, with real capacities to defend us. It is the only way to protect citizens from the internal and external threats the EU faces today. We remain fully committed to this fight until the time terrorism is eradicated.”
